Foreigner

On March 8, 1977, “Atlantic” label released the self-titled,  debut Foreigner studio album. It was recorded in November 1976 at “The Hit Factory” and “Atlantic Recording Studios” in New York, and was produced by John Sinclair, Gary Lyons, Mick Jones and Ian McDonald. The album was certified Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”, and 5× Platinum in US by “RIAA”.

Queen_II

On March 8, 1974, “Parlaphone” label released “Queen II”, the second Queen studio album. It was recorded in August 1973, at “Trident Studios” in London, and was produced by Roy Thomas Baker, Robin Geoffrey Cable, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. The cover photography was by Mick Rock. In the 1994 edition of “The Guinness All Time Top 1000 Albums”, “Queen II” was voted number 202. In 2005, “Kerrang!” magazine readers voted “Queen II” the 72nd greatest British rock album ever. In 2006, the album was featured in “Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s “The 200 Greatest Albums of the 70s.”

Ali Farka Touré

On March 7, 2006, Ali Ibrahim “Farka” Touré died aged 66. He was multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, one of Africa’s internationally most renowned musicians. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked Touré at number 76 on its list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”,and magazine “Spin” ranked him at number 37 on its list of “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”.
