Linda Ronstadt: Heart Like A Wheel

On November 19, 1974, “Capitol” label released “Heart like a Wheel”, the fifth Linda Ronstadt album. It was recorded June – September 1974, at “The Sound Factory” and “Clover Recorders” in Los Angeles, “Track Recorders” in Maryland, “Record Plant” and “The Hit Factory” in New York City, “Trident Studios” and “AIR Studios” in London, and was produced by Peter Asher. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “Heart like a Wheel” on number 490 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album was certified 2x Platinum by “RIAA”.

Ethel Nagy Gabriel

On March 23, 2021, Ethel Nagy Gabriel died aged 99. She was music producer and record executive, known as the first female producer in the music industry. She produced more than 2500 albums, winner of “Grammy Award” in 1982, produced six Grammy winning albums, and “15 RIAA Certified Gold Records” hits. Among the others, Gabriel worked with Henry Mancini, Elvis Presley, Al Hirt, Roger Whittaker, Neil Sedaka, Eddie Fisher, Paul Anka, Dolly Parton and Perry Como.

On March 11, 2019, Harold Simon Belsky aka Hal Blaine died aged 90. He was musician (drums) regarded to be one of the most recorded studio drummers in the history of the modern music. He had more than 35,000 recording sessions in various music genres including big number of film and TV soundtracks. On November 10, 1997, Thomas J. Tedesco died aged 67. He was a musician (guitar), part of the loose collective of Los Angeles area’s session musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. As he played on hundreds studio recordings, “Guitar Player” magazine described him as “the most recorded guitarist in music history”. He recorded with the Beach Boys, Chet Baker, the Mamas & the Papas, the Everly Brothers, the Association, Bobby Darrin, Barbra Streisand, Jan and Dean, the 5th Dimension, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Zappa, Ricky Nelson, Cher, Neil Diamond, Van Dyke Parks, Michael Franks, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Richard Harris, Peggy Lee, Johnny Rivers, Al Kooper, Michael Nesmith, Paul Anka, Don Ellis, Minnie Riperton, Maria Muldaur, Leon Russell, Aretha Franklin, Art Garfunkel, J.J. Cale, Quincy Jones, Stephen Bishop, Kenny Loggins, Jack Nitzsche, Sarah Vaughan, Lalo Schifrin, Randy Newman, Hugh Masakela, and Joan Baez. Tedesco performed on soundtracks including The French Connection, Jaws, The Godfather, Field of Dreams, and The Deer Hunter. As a leader he released ten albums.

Jerry Carrigan

On June 22, 2019, Jerry Kirby Carrigan died aged 75. He was musician (drums) and record producer. He first achieved widespread recognition as a member of the original Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and later as a session musician in Nashville, regarded as one of the creators of the Nashville sound known as “Countrypolitan”. He has recorded with Elvis Presley, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, Paul Anka, John Denver, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Bobby Bare, Ray Stevens, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Levon Helm, Dolly Parton, Leon Russell, Ronnie Hawkins, George Jones, Henry Mancini, Al Hirt, Johnny Mathis, and the Boston Pops Orchestra. In 2009 Carrigan was inducted into the “Nashville Cats”, by the “Country Music Hall of Fame”; in 2010 he was inducted into the “Alabama Music Hall of Fame”, and in 2019 Carrigan was inducted into the “Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum”.

On January 2, 2018, Roe Erister “Rick” Hall died aged 85. He was musician (guitar, mandolin) , music producer, songwriter, music publisher, best known as the owner and proprietor of “FAME Studios” in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He had recorded and promoted names like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Duane Allman, Etta James, Osmonds, Paul Anka and Tom Jones. In 1985, Hall was inducted into the “Alabama Music Hall of Fame”, received the “John Herbert Orr Pioneer Award”, and In 2014, he won the “Grammy Trustees Award”.
