On September 18, 1967, “Capitol” label released “Smiley Smile”, the 12th Beach Boys (The) studio album. It was recorded February 1966 – July 1967, at “Sunset Sound Recorders”; “United Western Recorders”; “CBS Columbia Square”; Brian Wilson’s home studio, and “Wally Heider Studios”, in Los Angeles, and was produced by Al Jarfine, Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson. In 1974, “NME” magazine voted “Smiley  Smile” the 64th greatest album of all time.

On September 12, 1980, “RCA” label released “Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)” the fourteenth David Bowie studio album. It was recorded February – April 1980, at “The Power Station” in London, and was produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti. In 2000, “Q” magazine ranked “Scary Monsters” at number 30 in its list of the “100 Greatest British Albums Ever”. In 2013, “NME” magazine ranked the album at number 381 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album was certified Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”, and in UK by the “BPI”.

On September 11, 2001, “Columbia” label released “Love and Theft”, the thirty-first Bob Dylan studio album. It was recorded in May 2001, and was produced by Jack Frost (Bob Dylan). In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Love and Theft” at number 385 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. At the 44th “Annual Grammy Awards”, the album won “Grammy Award” for “Best Contemporary Folk Album”.

In the 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 204 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 2007, Dylan won “Grammy Award” for “Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album” for “Modern Times” and the “Grammy Award” for “Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance” for the song “Someday Baby”.

On August 25, 1988, “Elektra” label released “…And Justice for All”, the fourth  Metallica studio album. It was recorded January – May 1988, at “One on One Recording Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by James Hetfield,  Kirk Hammett, Jason Newsted, Lars Ulrich and Flemming Rasmussen. “Kerrang!” magazine listed the album at number 42 on its list of the “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time” In 1990, the album single “One” won Metallica its first “Grammy Award” for “Best Metal Performance”.“…And Justice for All” became band’s best-selling album of the time; it was certified 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in Finland by “IFPI”; Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”, and 8 x platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

It was recorded October 1985 – June 1986, in South Africa, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Louisiana, and was produced by Paul Simon. In 1987, “Graceland” won “Grammy Award” for “Album of the Year”. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Graceland” at number 71 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album earned Paul Simon the “Best International Solo Artist” award at “The Brit Awards” in 1987. It was recorded November–December 1972, January–March 1975, January–March 1978, January–October 1979, October 1980 – June 1981, and was produced by The Glimmer Twins. In 1989, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Tattoo You” at number 213 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. Peter Corriston, who was responsible for the album art direction and design, won a “Grammy Award” in the category of “Best Album Package”. The album was certified 4 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada” and 4 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

On August 4, 1967, “EMI” label released “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn”, the debut Pink Floyd studio album. It was recorded February – May 1967, at “EMI Studios” in London, and was produced by Norman Smith. The album, named after the title of chapter seven of Kenneth Grahame’s “The Wind in the Willows”, was the only Pink Floyd’s album recorded by the leadership of Syd Barrett. In 2012,  “Rolling Stone” ranked “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” at number 347th on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
