Joni Mitchell: Ladies of the Canyon

In March 1970, “Reprise” label released “Ladies of the Canyon”, the third Joni Mitchell studio album. It was recorded 1969 – 1970, at “A&M Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Joni Mitchell.The album title was reference to Laurel Canyon, a centre of popular music culture in Los Angeles during the 1960s.

The Flying Burrito Brothers: The Glided Palace of Sin

In February 1969, “A&M” label released “The Gilded Palace of Sin”, the debut Flying Burrito Brothers (The) album. It was recorded in 1968, at “A&M Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Henry Lewy and Larry Marks. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “The Gilded Palace of Sin” at number 192 in its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”

On October 10, 1988, “Island” label released “Rattle and Hum”, the sixth U2 studio album. It was recorded 1987 – 1988, at “Sun Studio” in Memphis; “Point Depot”; “Danesmoat”, and “STS Studio” in Dublin; “A&M Studios” and  “Ocean Way”  in Los Angeles, and live in various locations, and was produced by Jimmy Iovine. The album was accompanied by a rockumentary film directed by Phil Joanou. “Rattle and Hum” was certified 7 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”; Platinum in Netherlands; 2 x Platinum in Switzerland by “IFPI Switzerland”; 4 x Platinum in UK by “BPI”, and 5 x Platinum in the US by “RIIA”.

On June 22, 1971, “Reprise” label released “Blue”, the fourth Joni  Mitchell album. It was recorded in 1971, at “A&M Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Joni Mitchell. The album was both critical and commercial success, regarded by critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. In 1999, “Blue” was awarded with the “Grammy Hall of Fame” award; in 2002, “Q” magazine ranked “Blue” at number eight on its list of the “Greatest Album of All-Time by a Female Artist”; in 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Blue” at number thirty on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”, and in 2012, the same magazine ranked the album at number two on its list of “Women Who Rock: The 50 Greatest Female Albums Of All Time”.
