In October 1972, “Track” label released “Who Came First”, the debut Pete Townshend solo album. It was recorded 1969 – 1972, at “Eel Pie Sound” in London, and was produced by Pete Townshend.

Donald Ray Williams

On September 8, 2017, Donald Ray Williams died aged 78. He was musician (guitar, piano), singer and songwriter, known by the nick name “Gentle Giant” of the country music. He had 17 number one country hits, and his songs has been covered by many artists including Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Waylon Jennings, Pete Townshend, Claude Russell Bridges, Lefty Frizzell, Josh Turner,  Sonny James, Alison Krauss,  Billy Dean,  Charley Pride, Kenny Rogers,  Lambchop,  Alan Jackson, Tomeu Penya, and Bonnie “Prince” Billy. In 2010, he was inducted in the “Country Music Hall of Fame”.

On September 12, 1980, “RCA” label released “Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)” the fourteenth David Bowie studio album. It was recorded February – April 1980, at “The Power Station” in London, and was produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti. In 2000, “Q” magazine ranked “Scary Monsters” at number 30 in its list of the “100 Greatest British Albums Ever”. In 2013, “NME” magazine ranked the album at number 381 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album was certified Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”, and in UK by the “BPI”.

It was recorded March–May 1985, at McCartney’s “Sussex studios” and October–December 1985 at McCartney’s Scottish studios, and was produced by Paul McCartney, Hugh Padgham and Phil Ramone. The album cover’s photograph was taken by George Hurrell, using the same box camera that he used in Hollywood in the 1930s and the 1940s, for his photographs of movie stars of the 1930s and 1940s like Clark Gable and Greta Garbo,

On August 24, 1981, “Rolling Stones” label released “Tattoo You”, the sixteen Rolling Stones (The) album. It was recorded November–December 1972, January–March 1975, January–March 1978, January–October 1979, October 1980 – June 1981, and was produced by The Glimmer Twins. In 1989, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Tattoo You” at number 213 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. Peter Corriston, who was responsible for the album art direction and design, won a “Grammy Award” in the category of “Best Album Package”. The album was certified 4 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada” and 4 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.
