On February 10, 1973, “ABC Dunhill Records” label released “Cameo”, the eighth Dusty Springfield studio album. It was recorded July – October 1972, at “ABC Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Steve Barri, Brian Potter and Dennis Lambert.

On December 22, 2022, Thomas Randolph Bell died aged79. He was producer, arranger and songwriter, regarded as one of the creators of the Philadelphia soul in the 70’. As songwriter, arranger and producer he worked with Hattie Winston, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, The Spinners, New York City, Elton John, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Denice Williams, Jerry Butler, Archie Bell & the Drells, Jerry Bell, Dionne Warwick, The O’Jays, Dusty Springfield.  and James Ingram. In 2016, Bell was inducted into the “Songwriters Hall of Fame”, and into the ”Musicians Hall of Fame”.

Angelo Daniel Badalamenti

On December 11, 2022, Angelo Daniel Badalamenti died aged 85. He was composer and arranger, recorded songs with David Bowie, Nina Simone, Tim Booth, Shirley Bassey, Dusty Springfield, Julee Cruise, Marianne Faithfull, Siouxsie Sioux and Dolores O’Riordan, but was best known for composing film music. He collaborated with director David Lynch, notably “Blue Velvet”, the “Twin Peaks” saga, “The Straight Story” and “Mulholland Drive”. In 1990, Badalamenti received “Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance” for his “Twin Peaks Theme”. In 2008, Badalamenti received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the “World Soundtrack Awards’s Academy”, and in 2011, the “Henry Mancini Award” from the “American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers”.

On August 5, 2022, Michael Anthony Lang died aged 80. He was musician (piano, keyboards, organ, synthesizer) and composer, recorded more than 2500 film scores, and worked with some of the biggest names of modern music such as Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Vince Gill, Milt Jackson, Lee Konitz, Diana Krall, Arturo Sandoval, Josh Groban, Frank Zappa, Lee Ritenour, Oliver Nelson, Bud Shank, Kenny Rogers, Barbra Streisand, Solomon Burke, Tom Waits, Peggy Lee, Vanessa Williams, Jose Feliciano, Bette Midler, Russell Watson, Michael Bolton, Don Ellis, Robbie Williams, Paul Anka, Sarah Vaughan, Amy Grant, Willie Nelson, Natalie Cole, Dusty Springfield, Melissa Manchester, Neil Diamond, Shelly Manne and Stan Kenton.

In December 1982, “Casablanca” label released “White Heat”, the twelfth Dusty Springfield studio album. It was recorded November 1981 – June 1982, at “Conway Recording Studios”, “Kendun Recorders” and “Group IV Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Howard Steele, Dusty Springfield and Andre Sischer.

Harold Lane David

On September 1, 2012, Harold Lane David died aged 91. He was lyricist best known for his collaborations with composer Burt Bacharach. Together they wrote and composed for Marty Robbins, Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, Dusty Springfield, B. J. Thomas, Gene Pitney, Tom Jones and Jackie DeShannon. Some of their best known compositions are “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”, “We Have All the Time in the World”, “This Guy’s in Love with You”, “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again”, “Do You Know the Way to San Jose”, “Walk On By”, “What the World Needs Now Is Love”, “I Say a Little Prayer”, “(There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me”, “One Less Bell to Answer”, “Alfie” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart”. David and Bacharach worked on soundtracks for movies “What’s New Pussycat?”, “Alfie”, “Casino Royale” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. Their compositions “Don’t Make Me Over”, “(They Long to Be) Close to You” and “Walk On By” have been inducted into the “Grammy Hall of Fame”. David contributed lyrics for three James Bond movies, and wrote lyrics for other composers including Morty Nevins, Albert Hammond, Sherman Edwards and Paul Hampton.

Gerald “Jerry” Wexler

On August 15, 2008, Gerald “Jerry” Wexler died aged 91. He was music journalist and producer, one of the main music industry personalities in the period from the 50s through the 80s. He played significant role in signing and producing many of most famous music acts of that period, including Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Led Zeppelin, Ray Charles, the Allman Brothers, Chris Connor, Wilson Pickett, Dire Straits and Dusty Springfield. Wexler coined the term “Rhythm and Blues” while writing for “Billboard” magazine in the late 1940s. In 1987, Wexler was inducted to the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”, and in 2017 to the “National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame”.

Daniel Hartman

On March 22, 1994, Daniel Earl Hartman died aged 43. He was musician (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards), singer, songwriter and music producer. As songwriter, musician and producer he collaborated with many musicians and bands including The Edgar Winter Group, James Brown, the Plasmatics, Steve Winwood, Time Bandits, Paul King, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Holly Johnson, Take That, Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Tyler, Living in a Box and Paul Young. As leader Hartman released eight albums.

On March 11, 2019, Harold Simon Belsky aka Hal Blaine died aged 90. He was musician (drums) regarded to be one of the most recorded studio drummers in the history of the modern music. He had more than 35,000 recording sessions in various music genres including big number of film and TV soundtracks. He worked with Shelley Fabares, The Crystals, Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys, Dean Martin, Lorne Greene, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, The Byrds, Sonny & Cher, Barry McGuire, Petula Clark, Nancy Sinatra, The Mamas & the Papas, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Rivers, The Supremes, The Association, Simon & Garfunkel, Tommy Roe, The 5th Dimension, Henry Mancini, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, The Partridge Family, The Raiders, Barbra Streisand, John Denver, Captain & Tennille, Diana Ross, Sam Cooke, Van Dyke Parks, John Lennon, Lulu, Dennis Wilson, Paul Simon, Richard Harris, Glen Campbell, Emitt Rhodes, Art Garfunkel, Juice Newton, Michael Nesmith, Cher, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, J.J.
