On June 30, 1998, “Mercury” label released “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road”, the fifth Lucinda Williams studio album. It was recorded in 1997, at “Room and Board Studio” in Nashville, Tennessee, “Rumbo Studio” in Canoga Park, California, and was produced by Roy Bittan, Steve Earle, Ray Kennedy and Lucinda Williams. “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road: won a “Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album”, and was voted “The Best album of 1998” in The Village Voice’s annual “Pazz & Jop” critics poll.

On March 11, 2019, Harold Simon Belsky aka Hal Blaine died aged 90. He was musician (drums) regarded to be one of the most recorded studio drummers in the history of the modern music. He had more than 35,000 recording sessions in various music genres including big number of film and TV soundtracks. He worked with Shelley Fabares, The Crystals, Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys, Dean Martin, Lorne Greene, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, The Byrds, Sonny & Cher, Barry McGuire, Petula Clark, Nancy Sinatra, The Mamas & the Papas, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Rivers, The Supremes, The Association, Simon & Garfunkel, Tommy Roe, The 5th Dimension, Henry Mancini, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, The Partridge Family, The Raiders, Barbra Streisand, John Denver, Captain & Tennille, Diana Ross, Sam Cooke, Van Dyke Parks, John Lennon, Lulu, Dennis Wilson, Paul Simon, Richard Harris, Glen Campbell, Emitt Rhodes, Art Garfunkel, Juice Newton, Michael Nesmith, Cher, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, J.J. Shel Silverstein

On May 10, 1999, Sheldon Allan “Shel” Silverstein died aged 57. He was writer of children books, cartooninst and songwriter. His songs were recorded by many artists including Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Bobby Bare, Marianne Faithful, Belinda Carlisle, Doyle Holly, Judy Collins and Emmylou Harris. His best known songs are “Sylvia’s Mother” and “The Cover of Rolling Stone” recorded by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, and “A Boy Named Sue” recorded by Johnny Cash. Silverstein won two “Grammy Awards” and a “Golden Globe Award”.
