It was recorded March–September 1995, at “Thrill Hill West”, Springsteen’s home studio in Los Angeles, and was produced by Bruce Springsteen and Chuck Plotkin. In 1997, the album won “Grammy Award” for “Best Contemporary Folk Album”.
