Dr John Night tripper

On January 22, 1968, “Atco” label released “Gris-Gris”, the debut Dr. John (Mac Rebennack) album.  It was recorded in 1967, at the “Gold Star Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Harold Battiste. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “Gris-Gris” at number 143 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

Transference

On January 19, 2010, “Merge” label released “Transference”, the seventh Spoon studio album. It was recorded in 2009, and was produced by Britt Daniel and Jim Eno. The album was ranked at number 22 in the magazine “Rolling Stone” list of “30 Best Albums of 2010” and at number 9 in the “Exclaim!’s” list of Best Pop & Rock Albums of 2010″.

Pretenders first album

On January 19, 1980, “Real Records” label released the self titled, debut Pretenders album.  It was recorded in 1979 at “Wessex Studios” and “Air Studios” and was produced by Chris Thomas, except “Stop Your Sobbing” produced by Nick Lowe. In 1982 the album was certified Platinum in US by “RIAA”. In 1989 magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked the album at number 20 on its list at “Best Albums of the 1980s” and in 2003 at number 155 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”. In 2012, magazine “Slant” ranked the album at number 64 on its list of “Best Albums of the 1980s”.

It was recorded in 1982, at the “Warner Brothers Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Russ Titelman and Lenny Waronker. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Trouble in Paradise” at number 67 on its list of “100 Greatest Albums of the 80”.

It was recorded April to June 1997, at the “Around the Golf” and “Studio Gang” in Paris, and “Abbey Road” in London, and was produced byJean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin . “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 93 on its list of “Best Album of the Nineties” ; the French edition of the same magazine, ranked  “Moon Safari” at  number 65 on its list of the “100 Greatest French rock albums”.
