Long Tall Sally

On June 19, 1964, “Parlaphone” label released “Long Tall Sally”, the fifth Beatles (The) EP. It was recorded March and June 1964, at “EMI Studios” in London, and was produced by George Martin. The EP was released in mono and was first British EP that included songs not previously released on an album or single in the UK.

On June 4, 1965, “Parlaphone” label released “Beatles for Sale (No 2)”, an EP  by the Beatles. It was recorded in 1964, at “EMI Studios” in London, and was produced by George Martin. It was released only in mono.

Let It Be

On May 8, 1970, “Apple” label released “Let It Be”, the twelve and final Beatles (The) studio album. It was recorded February 1968, January–February 1969, January; March–April 1970, at “Abbey Road Studios” and “Apple Studios” and “Twickenham Film Studios” in London, and was produced by Phil Spector and George Martin. The album was released at the same time with a motion picture of the same name. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Let it Be” at number 392 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album was certified Platinum in Australia by the “ARIA”, 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada” and 4 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

On March 22, 1963, “Parlaphone” label released “Please Please Me”, the debut Beatles studio album. It was recorded September 11,  November 26, 1962, February 11 – 20, 1963, at “EMI Studios” in London, and was produced by George Martin. The album was released as a mono LP, the stereo version was released on April 26, same year. In 2012, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “Please Please Me” at number 39 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” “Rolling Stone” also ranked two songs from the album on its list of “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” – number 140, “I Saw Her Standing There”, and number 186, “Please Please Me”.

George Martin

On March 8, 2016, Sir George Henry Martin died aged 90. He was musician (oboe, keyboards), music producer, arranger, composer, conductor and audio engineer, best known for his work with The Beatles and sometimes referred to as “the Fifth Beatle”. Martin had 30 number-one hit singles in the UK and 23 number-one hits in the US. In 1996, as recognition of his services to the music industry and popular culture, he was made a “Knight Bachelor”.
