Pink Floyd - Wall

On November 30, 1979, “Harvest” label released “The Wall”, the eleventh Pink Floyd studio album. This was the last studio album released with the lineup of David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and  Nick Mason. Richard Wright left the band after the release of the album. It was recorded from December 1978 till November 1979, at the “Britannia Row”, “Super Bear Studio”, “Studio Miraval” in France, “CBS 30th Street Studio” in New York, and at the “Producers Workshop” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Bob Ezrin, David Gilmour, James Guthrie and Roger Waters. The album featured band’s only number one single “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2”, and became one of the best selling albums of 1980. By 1999 “The Wall” sold in more than 23 million copies worldwide. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “The Wall” at number 87 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

George Harrison-All Things Must Pass

On November 27, 1970, “Apple” label released “All Things Must Pass”, the third George Harrison solo album. The material for the triple album was recorded from May to October 1970, at the Abbey Road Studios, Trident Studios,  Apple Studio in London, and was produced by Phil Spector and George Harrison. In 1993 “The Times” magazine ranked “All Things Must Pass” on number 79 on it’s list of “The 100 Best Albums of All Time”, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked the album on place 433 on its list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In January 2014, “All Things Must Pass” was inducted into the “Grammy Hall of Fame”. The album was certified 6 x Platinum in the US by “RIAA”.

Freddie Mercury

On November 24, 1991, Freddie Mercury died aged 45. He was musician (piano, guitar) singer, songwriter and producer, best known as the lead vocalist, songwriter and front man of the band Queen. He wrote some of the band’s best known songs featuring “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “Somebody to Love,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and “We Are the Champions.”As a singer he had powerful vocal with over a four-octave range, and had unique stage appearance. In 1992, Mercury was awarded the “Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music”; in 2001,as a member of Queen, he was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”; in 2002 Mercury was ranked at number 58 in the BBC’s poll of the “100 Greatest Britons”; in 2003 he was inducted in the “Songwriters Hall of Fame”; in 2005 he was inducted in the UK “Music Hall of Fame”; in 2005, in “Blender” and “MTV2” pool, Mercury was voted the “Best male singer of all time”; in 2008, editors of the magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked Mercury at number 18 on their list of the “100 greatest singers ever” and in 2009, “Classic Rock” poll elected him the best rock singer of all time.

On November 22, 1968, “Apple” label released the self titled, ninth Beatles studio album, known as the “White Album”.  It was recorded May – October 1968, at the “EMI Studios” and “Trident Studios” in London, and was produced by George Martin. In 2003, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked it at number 10 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On November 20.1971, “Epic” label released “There’s a Riot Goin’ On”, the fifth Sly and the Family Stone” studio album. It was recorded in 1970 and 1971, at the”Record Plant Studios” in Sausalito, California, and was produced by Sly Stone. In 2003, “There’s a Riot Goin’ On” was ranked number 99 on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s list of the “500 greatest albums of all time”. The album was certified Platinum in the US by “RIIA”.

It was band’s last studio album  with Peter Gabriel and was recorded August – October 1974, at the “Island Mobile Studios” in Wales, and was produced by John Burns, Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford. “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” was ranked at number 9 on the “Rolling Stone” magazine list of “50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time”. The album was deemed one of the 23 “Maddest and Most Memorable Concept Albums” by “NME”.

It was recorded in May 1967, at the “Atlantic Studios” in New York City, and was produced by Felix Pappalardi. The album was certified 23 x Platinum in US by the “RIAA” and with more than 37 million sold copies worldwide, it became one of the best selling music albums ever. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “Led Zeppelin IV” on number 69 on it’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

In 2003, “American Beauty” was ranked number 258 on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”.
