On May 21, 2001, Tommy Eyre died aged 52. He was musician (keyboards, piano), as a session musician recorded and performed with John Martyn, Alex Harvey, Greg Lake, Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, B.B. King, John Mayall, Tracy Chapman Wham!, Marc Almond, Scarlet Rivera, Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, Blue Whale, Jaklin, Riff Raff and ZZebra, but he was best known for playing on Joe Cocker’s “With A Little Help From My Friends”, Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” and “Right Down the Line”. As leader Eyre has released seven albums.

John Martyn: Solid Air
In February 1973, “Island” label released “Solid Air”, the fourth John Martyn studio album. It was recorded November – December 1972, at “Island Studios”, “Basing Street”, “Sound Techinques” in London, and was produced by John Martyn and John Wood. The title track “Solid Air” was dedicated to Nick Drake. “Q” magazine ranked the album at number 67 on its list of the “Greatest British Album Ever”, and was was also included in their list of “Best Chill-Out Albums of All Time”.

On July 12, 1983, Christopher Gordon Blandford ‘Chris’ Wood died aged 39. He was musician (saxophone, flute, keyboards), was best known as one of the founding members of the band “Traffic”. On January 29, 2009, Iain David McGeachy aka John Martyn, died aged 61. He was musician (guitar), singer and songwriter, regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of the modern music, with an unique voice and guitar playing style. In his 40 year career he has worked with artists such as Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and Phil Collins and he had released 21 studio albums. ”The Times” described him as “an electrifying guitarist and singer whose music blurred the boundaries between folk, jazz, rock and blues”.
