Prince: 1999

1999

On October 27, 1982, “Warner Bros” label released “1999”, the fifth Prince studio album.  It was recorded in 1982 at the “Kiowa Trail Home Studio” in Minnesota and “Sunset Sound Recorders” in Hollywood, and was produced by Prince. In 2008 the album was inducted into the “Grammy Hall of Fame”, and in 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “1999” on number 163 on it’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

It was recorded May–June 1972 and May–September 1973, at the “Olympic Studios” and “Ramport Studios” in London with “Ronnie Lane’s Mobile Studio”, and was produced by John Entwistle, Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon , Pete Townshend, Kit Lambert and was co-produced by  Glyn Johns.

In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album on number 498 in the list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”

On October 25, 1974, “Island” label released “Natty Dread”, the debut Bob Marley & the Wailers album.  It was recorded in 1973, at “Harry J. Studios” in Kingston, Jamaica, and was produced by Chris Blackwell, Bob Marley, Aston Barrett, Carlton Barrett, Bernard Harvey, Jean Roussel and Al Anderson.  It was the first album  without Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, and the first album recorded with the I-Threes, a female vocal trio that included Bob’s wife, Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt.  In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Natty Dread” at number 181 on it’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”.
