Mercury Rev: See You On The Other Side

On September 19, 1995, “Beggars Banquet” label released “See You on the Other Side”, the third Mercury Rev studio album. It was recorded in 1995, and was produced by Jonathan Donahue, Dave Fridmann, Grasshopper, Suzanne Thorpe and Jimy Chambers. The album cover is taken from a 1975 “7 Up” commercial entitled “Uncola”.

It was recorded June 1987 – April 1988, at “Aigle Studios” in Dublin, and “Orinoco Studios” in London, and was produced by Nicky Ryan. The album was certified Platinum in Argentina by “CAPIF”; 6 x Platinum in Australia by ARIA; Platinum in Belgium by “BEA”; in Brazil by “ABPD”; 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”; 2 x Platinum in Japan by “RIAJ”; Platinum in Netherlands by “NVPI”; Platinum in New Zealand by “RMNZ”; 5 x Platinum in Spain by “PROMUSICAE”; Platinum in Switzerland by “IFPI Switzerland”; 4 x Platinum in UK by the “BPI”, and 4 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

On September 19, 1970, “Reprise” label released “After the Gold Rush”, the third Neil Young studio album. It was recorded 1969 – June 1970, at “Sunset Sound” in Hollywood; “Sound City”; “Van Nuys” in Los Angeles, and “Redwood Studios” in Topanga, California, and was produced by Neil Young, David Briggs and Kendall Pacios. In 1998, “Q”  magazine readers voted “After the Gold Rush” the 89th greatest album of all time. In 2003, Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 71 on its list of the “500 Greatest Album of All Time”. In 2003, “NME” magazine ranked “After the Gold Rush” at number 80 of the list of the “Greatest Albums of All Time. In 1986, the album was certified 2 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”, and 2 x Platinum in UK by the “BPI” in 2004.

On September 19, 1969, “Reprise” label released “Then Play On”, the third Fleetwood Mac studio album. It was recorded 1968 – 1969, at “CBS Studios”; and “De Lane Lea Studios” in London, and was produced by Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. The painting used for the cover of the album is “Domesticated Mural Painting”, by the English artist Maxwell Armfield.
