Lennon

On December 11, 1970, “Apple” label released “John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band”, the debut John Lennon studio album.  It was recorded September – October , 1970, at the “Abbey Road Studios” and at “Ascot Sound Studios” in London, and was produced by John Lennon, Yoko Ono  and Phil Spector. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 23 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On December 9, 1974, “Apple” label released “Dark Horse”, the fifth George Harrison studio album. It was recorded November 1973, and August – October 1974, at “FPSHOT” in Oxfordshire and “A&M Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by George Harrison.

George Harrison-All Things Must Pass

On November 27, 1970, “Apple” label released “All Things Must Pass”, the third George Harrison solo album. The material for the triple album was recorded from May to October 1970, at the Abbey Road Studios, Trident Studios,  Apple Studio in London, and was produced by Phil Spector and George Harrison. In 1993 “The Times” magazine ranked “All Things Must Pass” on number 79 on it’s list of “The 100 Best Albums of All Time”, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked the album on place 433 on its list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In January 2014, “All Things Must Pass” was inducted into the “Grammy Hall of Fame”. The album was certified 6 x Platinum in the US by “RIAA”.

It was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at the “Apple Studio”, “Olympic Studios” and “Morgan Studios” in London, and in “The Manor Studio” in Oxfordshire, and was produced by Chris Thomas, Pete Ham, Tom Evans, Joey Molland, Mike Gibbins and Todd Rundgren.

On November 22, 1968, “Apple” label released the self titled, ninth Beatles studio album, known as the “White Album”.  It was recorded May – October 1968, at the “EMI Studios” and “Trident Studios” in London, and was produced by George Martin. In 2003, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked it at number 10 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

Two Virgins

On November 11, 1968, “Apple” label released “Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins”, the first of three John Lennon and Yoko Ono experimental albums.  “Two Virgins” was recorded during an all-night session in John’s home studio at May 19,  1968, at Surrey, Kenwood, and was produced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Six months later “Two Virgins” was followed by “Unfinished Music No.2: Life with the Lions”.

Plastic Ono Band: Give Peace A Chance

On June 1, 1969, in room 1742, in “Queen Elizabeth Hotel”, in Montreal, Canada,  John Lennon and Yoko Ono recorded the song “Give Peace A Chance”. The song was written by Lennon and recorded by André Perry, using a simple setup of four microphones and a four-track tape recorder. Lennon played acoustic guitar, accompanied by Tommy Smothers from the “Smothers Brothers”, also on acoustic guitar. The recording session was attended by number of journalists and celebrities, including Petula Clark, Timothy Leary, Rabbi Abraham Feinberg, Joseph Schwartz, Rosemary Woodruff Leary, Dick Gregory, Allen Ginsberg, Murray the K and Derek Taylor. The song was released as a single by “Plastic Ono Band” on July 4, 1969 (UK), on “Apple” label. “Give peace a chance” became an anthem of the American anti-war movement during the 70’s.
