On August 22, 2006, “MCG Jazz” label released “Turned to Blue”, the fifty-second and final Nancy Wilson studio album. It was recorded in 2006, at “Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild” in Pittsburgh, “Conway Studios” in Los Angeles, “Somy Music Studios” in New York City, “Audible Images Recording” in Port Matilda, and was produced by Marty Ashby and Jay Ashby. At the 49th “Annual Grammy Awards”, “Turned to Blue” won “Best Jazz Vocal Album” award.

On August 21, 1967, “Capitol” label released “Ode to Billie Joe”, the debut Bobbie Gentry studio album. It was recorded February – July 1967, at “Whitney” in Glendale, California, “Capitol Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Kelly Gordon. At the 10th “Annual Grammy Awards”, Bobbie Gentry won “Best New Artists”, the album won “Best Arrangements, Instrumental and Vocal”, “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” and “Best Contemporary Female Solo Vocal Performance”.

On October 13, 2017, “Loma Vista Records” label released “Masseduction”, the fifth St. Vincent studio album. It was in 2017 at “Electric Lady” in New York, “Rough Consumer” in Brooklyn, “Compound Fracture” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent. At the 61st “Annual Grammy Awards”, “Masseduction” won the award for “Best Recording Package” and “Best Rock Song” for its title track.

Gary Burden

On March 10, 2018, Gary Burden died aged 84. He was artist specialized in design of music album covers, considered as one of the pioneers of the concept of album cover art. He created covers for many famous music acts including The Doors, Neil Young, Mama Cass, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Jackson Browne and Matt Corby.  In 2000, together with the photographer Henry Diltz, he made “California Rock: Under the Covers”, a documentary about their mutual work on album covers and participation in the Los Angeles music scene.In 2010, at the 52nd “Annual Grammy Awards”, Burden won the award for “Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Packaging” for the Neil Young “The Archives Vol. 1 1963–1972”.

It was recorded on October 21 and 22, 1957, at “Capitol Studios” in New York City, and was produced by Teddy Reig. At the 1st “Annual Grammy Awards”, the album won “Best Jazz Performance, Group” and “Best Performance by a Dance Band” awards.

At the 55th “Annual Grammy Awards”, The Black Keys won the award for “Best Rock Album”, “Best Rock Performance” and “Best Rock Song” for “Lonely Boy”. The album was certified 2 x Platinum in Australia by “ARIA”; 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in France by “SNEP”; Platinum in Ireland by “IRMA”; 2 x Platinum in New Zealand by “RMNZ”; Platinum in UK by “BPI”, and Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

It was recorded September 1966, January 1967, June 1967, October 1967−February 1968, at “Columbia Studio A & B” in Manhattan, and was produced by Paul Simon, Roy Halee and Art Garfunkel. In 1969, at the 11th “Annual Grammy Awards”, “Mrs. Robinson” became the first rock and roll song to win “Record of the Year” and also  won award for “Best Contemporary Pop Performance by a Duo or Group”
