On August 2, 1978, “Epic” label released “Don’t Look Back”, the second Boston studio album. It was recorded 1977–1978, at  “Hideaway Studio” and “Northern Studio” in Maynard, Massachusetts, and was produced by Tom Scholz. The album was certified 7 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA” and 5 x Platinum in Canada by “CRIA”.

On July 27, 1979, “Albert” label released “Highway to Hell”, the sixth Australian and the fifth international AC/DC album. It was recorded December 1978, at “Albert Studios” in Sydney; January – February 1979, at “Criteria Studios” in Miami, Florida; March – April 1979, at “Roundhouse Studios” in London, and was produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Highway to Hell” at number 200 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On July 6, 1979, “Warner Bros” label released the debut, self-titled The  B-52’s album. It was recorded 1978 – 1979, at at “Compass Point Studios” in Nassau, Bahamas, and was produced by Chris Blackwell. The album cover was designed by Tony Wright. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 152 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

It was recorded 1975 – 1978, at “The Boarding House” in San Francisco, and was produced by Neil Young, David Briggs and Tim Mulligan. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Rust Never Sleeps” at number 350 on its list of the ”500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

On June 15, 1979, “Vertigo” label released “Communiqué”, the second Dire Straits studio album. It was recorded November – December 1978, at “Compass Point Studios” in Nassau, Bahamas, and was produced by Barry Beckett and Jerry Wexler. The album cover was designed by Phonogram’s advertising agency “Grant Advertising” and in 1979 it won album cover of the year in the “NME” awards. “Communiqué” was certified  Platinum in the UK, and 2 x Platinum in France.

On June 13, 1979, “Asylum” label released “Mingus”, the tenth Joni Mitchell studio album. The album was recorded in 1978 – 1979, and was finalized few months before Charles Mingus death, and was his last music project. “Mingus” was recorded at “A&M Studios” in Hollywood and “Electric Lady Studios” in New York, and was produced by Joni Mitchell. Album artwork features Joni Mitchell paintings of Mingus.

It was recorded October – December 1977, January – March 1978, at “Pathé Marconi Studios” in Paris, and was produced by The Glimmer Twins. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Some Girls” at number 269 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The album was certified 6 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”, and became the best selling Rolling Stone’s album in United States.
