On July 29, 1968, “Columbia” label released “Truth” the debut Jeff Beck album. It was recorded May 1966, June 1967, December 1967, May 1968 at the “Abbey Road Studios”; “Olympic Sound Studios”and “De Lane Lea Recording Studios” in London, and was produced ny Mickey Most.

On August 30, 1968, “Columbia” label released “Sweetheart of the Rodeo”, the sixth Byrds (The) album. It was recorded in March – May 1968, at the “Columbia Studios” in Nashville,  “Columbia Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Gary Usher.

Cheapthrills

On August 12, 1968, “Columbia” label released “Cheap Thrills”, the second Big Brother and the Holding Company studio album (first one with Janis Joplin as lead singer). It was recorded March-May 1968 and was produced by John Simon, who incorporated recordings of crowd noise to give the impression of a live album, but only the last song, band’s cover of “Ball and Chain”, had been recorded live at “The Fillmore” in San Francisco.  “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Cheap Thrills” at number 338 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

Filmore East

On June 27, 1971, rock venue “Fillmore East” was closed. Rock promoter Bill Graham opened “Fillmore East” on Second Avenue near East 6th Street in the East Village, in New York City, on March 8, 1968. In its three years of existence, some of the biggest acts in rock music performed in this venue. The “Fillmore East” was a companion to Graham’s “Fillmore Auditorium”, and its successor, the “Fillmore West”, in San Francisco.

Big number of live albums by famous artists was recorded in “Fillmore East”, including:
