In July 1974, “Reprise” label released “Rejuvenation”, the fifth Meters studio album.It was recorded in 1974, at “Sea-Saint Studios”, and was produced by Allen Toussaint, Ziggy Modeliste, Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli, George Porter, Jr. and Lowell George.

In July 1974, “Atco” label released “Miami”, the seventh James Gang album.  It was recorded in 1974, and was produced by Tom Dowd, Roy Kenner, Tommy Bolin, Albhy Galuten, Dale Peters and Jimmy “Jim” Fox.

Joe Felds

On July 12, 2017, Joe Fields died aged 88. He has worked for “London Records”,  “MGM”, “Verve”, “Prestige”, “Sue Records”, and “Buddha Records” (started their jazz division, “Cobblestone Records”), before he started his own label “Muse Records” in 1973. The label featured artists such as Pat Martino, Houston Person, Cedar Walton, Charlie Earland, Larry Coryell and Woody Shaw. In the 80’s Fields acquired “Savoy” and “Landmark Records” labels. “Savoy” owned recordings by Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Dexter Gordon, among others. In 1997, Joe, and his son Barney, launched “HighNote” and “Savant Records”, labels that features artists such as Kenny Burrell, Houston Person, Wallace Roney, Eric Alexander, Freddy Cole, Tom Harrell and Russell Malone.

On July 15, 1983, “Mercury” label released “The Crossing”, the debut Big Country studio album. It was recorded in May 1983, at “The Manor” in Oxfordshire, “RAK Studios” in London, and was produced by Steve Lillywhite. In December 1983, “The Crossing” was certified Platinum in Canada by “CRIA”, and in February 1984 it was certified Platinum in UK by the “BPI”.
