On June 4, 2002, “Maverick” label released “Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape”, the fourth Meshell Ndegeocello studio album. It contains short clips of spoken word performances by writers and artists Angela Davis, Gil-Scott Heron and Etheridge Knight, and was produced by Meshell Ndegeocello, Allen Cato,Missy Elliott,  Rockwilder and Supa Dave West.

On June 4, 1984, “Columbia” label released “Born in the U.S.A.”, the seventh Bruce Springsteen studio album. It was recorded January 1982 – March 1984, at “The Power Station” and “The Hit Factory” in New York City, and was produced by Jon Landau, Chuck Plotkin, Bruce Springsteen and Steven Van Zandt. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 85 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”. In 2013, “NME” magazine ranked it at number 428 on its list album of the “Greatest Albums of all Time”.

Koko Taylor

On June 3, 2009, Cora Walton aka Koko Taylor died aged 80. She was blues singer, known by powerful and rough vocal, performing rhythm and blues, Chicago Blues and blues. Often called “The Queen of Blues”, for her work she received number of awards including:

  • In 1985, Grammy Awardfor Best Traditional Blues Album
  • In 1996, Howlin’ Wolf Award
  • In 1997, inducted in the Blues Hall of Fame
  • In 1999, Blues Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award
  • In 2004, NEA National Heritage Fellowship

Studio” in Kingston, and “Island Studios” in London, and was produced by  Bob Marley and the Wailers. In 1999,  “Time”  magazine named “Exodus” the best album of the 20th century. In 2001, the TV network “VH1” named it the 26th greatest album of all time. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 169 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”.
