On October 18, 1984, “Barking Pumpkin” label released “Them or Us”, the fortieth Frank Zappa album. It was recorded November 1981 – June 1984 (except “Planet Of My Dreams” and “Ya Hozna” recorded in 1974), and was produced by Frank Zappa.

On October 18, 1971, “Elektra” label released “Other Voices”, the seventh Doors (The) studio album. It was recorded in 1971 and was produced by Bruce Botnick, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. “Other Voices” was the first Doors album released following the death of Jim Morrison. The three remaining Doors members released the album in October, three months after Morrison’s death.

On October 17, 2000, “American Recordings” label released “American III: Solitary Man”, the 85th Johnny Cash album overall and the third album in the “American series”. The album was produced by John Carter Cash and Rick Rubin. “American III: Solitary Man” won “Grammy” award for “Best Male Country Vocal Performance” for Cash’s version of the Neil Diamond classic “Solitary Man”.
