On October 23, 2000, “Island” label released “Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea”, the fifth PJ Harvey studio album. It was recorded March–April 2000, at “Great Linford Manor” in Milton Keynes, UK, and was produced by Rob Ellis, Mick Harvey and PJ Harvey. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 8 on its list of “The 50 Essential “Women in Rock” Albums”. In 2002, “Q” magazine named “Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea” the “Greatest Album of All-Time by a Female Artist”.In 2006, “Time” magazine choose the album as one of the “100 Best Albums of All Time”. The album was certified Platinum in Australia by “ARIA”, and Platinum in UK by “BPI”.

On October 23, 1986, “A&M” label released “Blah-Blah-Blah”, the seventh Iggy Pop studio album. It was recorded in 1986, at “Mountain Studios” in Montreux, Switzerland, and was produced by David Bowie and David Richards. The album was Iggy Pop and David Bowie last collaboration, and became the most commercially successful Iggy Pop’s album to date.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience

On October 23, 1966, “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” recorded their first single “Hey Joe”, at “De Lane Lea” studios in London. “Hey Joe” is an American popular song from the 1960’s (some sources give credits to Billy Roberts as the song author) that has become a rock standard and as such has been performed in different musical styles by number of different artists since it was first written. The earliest known commercial recording of the song is the 1965 single by the Los Angeles garage band “The Leaves”. “The Jimi Hendrix Experience” included “Hey Joe” on their 1967 album “Are you experienced”.
