In May 1988, “Mute” label released “A Bell Is a Cup… Until It Is Struck”, the fifth Wire  studio album. It was recorded in December 1987, and at “Preußen Tonstudio” in Berlin, and was produced by Gareth Jones.

It was recorded January – July 2005, at “Sound Design” in  Santa Barbara, California;  “Stratosphere Sound” in New York City, and “Whitfield Studios” in London, and was produced by Ben Hillier.  The album was certified Platinum in France by “SNEP; 2 x Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”; Platinum in Hungary by “MAHASZ”; Platinum in Poland by “ZPAV”; 3 x Platinum in Russia by “NFPF”, and Platinum in Spain by “PROMUSICAE”.

Yazoo: You And Me Both

On July 4, 1983, “Mute” label released “You and Me Both”, the second and final Yazoo studio album. It was recorded in 1982–1983 at “Blackwing Studios” in London, and was produced by Eric Radcliffe and Yazoo. The duo members announced their split just few weeks before the album’s release, so the album’s title was an ironic reference to their grown estranged from each other and the fact that they recorded much of the album separately. The album’s artwork was by design team “23 Envelope”.
