On October 15, 1973, “Capitol” label released “Moondog Matinee” the fifth Band (The) studio album. It was recorded March–June 1973, at “Bearsville Sound Studios” in Bearsville, New York; “Capitol Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Robbie Robertson, Richard Manuel and  Billy Mundi. The album consists entirely of cover songs.

In October 2013, “NME” magazine ranked the album at number 31 in its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
