On October 18, 1981, “RCA” label released “Sonic Attack”, the eleventh Hawkwind studio album. It was recorded in 1981, at “Rockfield Studios” in Wales, and was produced by Dave Brock, Hew Lloyd Langton, Harvey Bainbridge, Martin Griffin, Michael Moorcock and Ashley Howe.

Hawkwind: In Search Of Space

On October 8, 1971, “United Artists” label released “In Search of Space” the second Hawkwind, studio album. It was recorded in 1971, at “Olympic Studios” in London, and was produced by George Chkiantz, Dave Brock, Nik Turner, Del Dettmar, Michael davies, Dik Mik, Dave Anderson, and Terry Ollis.  Graphic artist Barney Bubbles titled the album and designed the cover with space-age poet Robert Calvert produced the accompanying 24-page “The Hawkwind Log” with photos by Phil Franks.

On August 14, 1970, “Liberty” label released the self-titled, same Hawkwind studio album. It was recorded in April 1970, at “Trident Studios” in London, and was produced by Dick Taylor  and Hawkwind. It is regarded as one of the first space rock albums.

On August 6, 1974, “United Artists” label released “Hall of the Mountain Grill”, the fourth Hawkwind album. It was recorded January – June 1974, at “Edmonton Sundown” and “Olympic Studios” in London, and was produced by Roy Thomas Baker, Doug Bennett and Hawkwind.

On June 17, 1977, “Charisma” label released “Quark, Strangeness and Charm”, the seventh Hawkwind studio album. It was recorded in February 1977, at “Rockfield Studios”, and was produced by Dave Brock, Robert Calver, Simon House, Adrian Shaw, and Simon King. The art cover designed by Hipgnosis and Geoff Halpin, features photographs are of the control room at “Battersea Power Station”.

The Bottom Line

Bottom Line Club

On February 12, 1974, “The Bottom Line” club opened in New York City. Owned by Allan Pepper and Stanley Snadowsky, during the 70’s and 80’s, the club was a major space for small-scale music performances. The club stoped working in 2004. On August 26, 1976, “Charisma” label released “Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music”, the sixth Hawkwind studio album. It was recorded February–March 1976 at the “Roundhouse Studios”, and was produced by Robert Calvert, Dave Brock, Alan Powell, Nik Turner, Paul Rudolph, Simon House and Simon King.. The album title makes references to SF magazine “Astounding and Amazing Stories” and the cover is a parody of the covers of  old SF magazines.
