Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man

On February 2, 1988, “Columbia” label released “I’m Your Man”, the eighth Leonard Cohen studio album. It was recorded August – November 1987, at the “Studio Tempo” in Montréal and “Rock Steady” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Leonard Cohen, Roscoe Beck, Jean-Michel Reusser and Michel Robidoux.  Pitchfork Media ranked the album at number 51 on its list “100 Best Albums of the 1980s”; “Slant” magazine listed the album at number 29 on its list of “Best Albums of the 1980s”.

On January 30, 1989, “Factory” label released “Technique”, the fifth New Order studio album.  It was recorded in 1988, at “Mediterranean Studios” in Ibiza and “Real World Studios”, and was produced by Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert. In 2013 “NME” ranked “Technique” at number 122 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 2006 “Q” magazine ranked the album at No. 21 on its list of the “40 Best Albums of the ’80s”.

Dennis Wilson

On December 28, 1983, Dennis Carl Wilson died aged 39. He was musician (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards), singer and songwriter, best known as a co-founder and member of the Beach Boys. In 1977, Dennis released his only solo album “Pacific Ocean Blue”. In 1988, Carl Wilson was posthumously inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” as a member of the Beach Boys.

On October 17, 1988, “Wilbury” label released “The Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1”, the debut album by the supergroup Traveling Wilburys (The).  It was recorded April – May 1988, at the “FPSHOT”, “Lucky Studios” and “Dave Stewart Studios”, and was produced by Otis Wilbury and Nelson Wilbury. The album has been certified 3 x Platinum in US by “RIAA”.
