On June 27, 1974, “Grateful Dead Records” label released “From the  Mars Hotel”, the seventh Grateful Dead studio album. It was recorded March  – April 1,1974, at “CBS Studios” in San Francisco, and was produced by Jerry Garcia, Donna Jean Godchaux, Keith Goodchaux, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir. The album cover artwork is of the “Mars Hotel”, a rundown, at 192 Fourth Street in San Francisco.

On June 26, 1974, “Swan Song” label released the self-titled, debut Bad Company album. It was recorded in November 1973, at “Headley Grange” with “Ronnie Lane’s Mobile Studio”, and was produced by Paul Rodgers, Mike Ralphs, Boz Burrell, and Simon Kirke. “Kerrang!” magazine ranked the album at number 40 among the “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time”.

The album has been certified Platinum in UK (BPI), Canada (Music Canada) and in the US (RIIA).

Thematically, the album is mixture of the George Orwell’s novel “1984” and Bowie’s vision of a post-apocalyptic world.
