On April 14, 2023, “Blackened” label released “72 Seasons”, the eleventh Metallica studio album. It was recorded March 2021 – November 2022, at Metallica’s HQ in San Rafael, California, and was produced by Greg Fidelman, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.

Nathan “Joey” Jordison

On July 26, 2021, Nathan Jonas “Joey” Jordison died aged 46. He was musician (drums, guitar), performed with Rob Zombie,  Metallica,  Korn, Ministry, Otep, Satyricon, Murderdolls, Scar the Martyr and Sinsaenum but was best known as founding member and drummer of Slipknot. In 2010, the readers of the magazine “Rhythm”, voted him “The Best drummer of the previous 25 years”.

Pat Boone: In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy

On January 28, 1997, “Hip-O” label released “In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy”, album by Pat Boone. It was recorded in 1996, at “Ocean Way Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Michael Lloyd and Jeffrey Weber.

On October 31, 2011, “Warner Bros” and “Vertigo” labels released “Lulu”, a collaboration album between Lou Reed and Metallica. It was recorded April – June 2011, at Metallica’s HQ in San Rafael, CA, and was produced by Greg Fidelman, Lou Reed, Hal Willner, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich.The album is based on the two “Lulu Plays” by the German playwright Frank Wedekind.

It was recorded March 2007 – May 2008, at “Sound City Studios”in Los Angeles; “Shangri La Studios” in Malibu, California; Metallica’s HQ in San Rafael, California, and was produced by Rick Rubin. On the 51st “Grammy Awards” in 2009, Metallica won “Grammy Awards” for “Best Metal Performance” for “My Apocalypse”. Producer Rick Rubin received the award for “Producer of the Year, Non-Classical”, and art directors Bruce Duckworth, David Turner & Sarah Moffat were awarded “Best Recording Package”.” Death Magnetic” was awarded “Best Album in the 2009” at Kerrang! Awards. It was recorded January – May 1988, at “One on One Recording Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by James Hetfield,  Kirk Hammett, Jason Newsted, Lars Ulrich and Flemming Rasmussen. “Kerrang!” magazine listed the album at number 42 on its list of the “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time” In 1990, the album single “One” won Metallica its first “Grammy Award” for “Best Metal Performance”.“…And Justice for All” became band’s best-selling album of the time; it was certified 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”; Platinum in Finland by “IFPI”; Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”, and 8 x platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

On August 12, 1991, “Elektra” label released the self-titled, fifth Metallica album (known as “The Black Album”). It was recorded October 1990 – June 1991, at “One on One Recording Studios” and was produced by Bob Rock, James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich. The album received worldwide critical acclaim and became the band’s best selling album ever. As of November 2014, the album has spent 328 weeks on the “Billboard” album chart, making it one of the ten longest-running discs of all time. The album was certified 16× Platinum in the USA by the “RIAA”. On December 13, 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 225 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
