On May 17, 2019, “English Electric” label released “Grand Tour”, the twelfth Big Big Train studio album. It was recorded 2018 – 2019, at “English Electric Studios”, “Abbey Road Studios”, “Real World Studios”, “Sweetwater Studios” in UK, and was produced by David Longdon and Greg Spawton.

On May 17, 1968, “Transatlantic” label released the self – titled, debut Pentangle (The) album. It was recorded February – March 1968, at “IBC Studios” and “Olympic Sound Studio” in London, and was produced by Shel Talmy.

On May 17, 1981, “Park Avenue” label released “Youth of America”, the second Wipers studio album. It was recorded in 1980, at “Wave Sound Studios” in Vancouver, Washington, and was produced by Greg Sage.

Johnny Guitar Watson

On May 17, 1996, John Watson Jr. aka Johnny “Guitar” Watson died aged 61. He was musician (guitar), singer and songwriter, known as the pioneer of guitar feedback and reverb. His recording career spanned forty years, with biggest success in his funk era, with the albums “Ain’t That a Bitch” (1976), “A Real Mother for Ya” (1977), and “Funk Beyond the Call of Duty” (1977). Watson died of a heart attack while on tour in Yokohama, Japan, collapsing mid guitar solo.

The album was certified 4 x Platinum in Australia by “ARIA”, 2 x Platinum in Belgium by “BEA”, 3 x Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”, Diamond in France by “SNEP”, 7 x Platinum in New Zealand by “RMNZ”, Platinum in Sweden by “GLF”, 6 x Platinum in UK by “BPI” and 2 x Platinum in US by “RIAA”.

Chris Cornell

On May 17, 2017, Christopher John Boyle aka Chris Cornell died aged 52. He was musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist, songwriter and rhythm guitarist of Soundgarden, lead vocalist and songwriter of Audioslave, and as founder and frontman of Temple of the Dog. Cornell is widely regarded as one of the crucial artists of the grunge movement. Readers of the “Guitar World” magazine voted him “Rock’s Greatest Singer”; “Hit Parader” ranked him at number 4 in the list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists”; “MTV” ranked Cornell at number 12 in the choice of the “22 Greatest Voices in Music”; magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked him at number 9 in the list of the “Best Lead Singers of All Time”. Cornell released fie solo albums.
