Pearl Jam: Backspace

On September 20, 2009, “Monkeywrench” label released “Backspacer”, the ninth Pearl Jam studio album. It was recorded February – April 2009, at “Henson Recording Studios” in Hollywood; “Southern Tracks Recording” and “Dopple” in Atlanta,Georgia, and was produced by Brendan O’Brien. The album was certified Platinum in Australia by “ARIA”; Platinum in Canada by “Music Canada”, and Platinum in Italy by “FIMI”.

On August 26, 2002, “Parlaphone” label released “A Rush of Blood to the Head”, the second Coldplay studio album. It was recorded September 2001 – May 2002, and was produced by Ken Nelson, Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman  and Will Cha,pion. In 2002, at the “Q Awards” the album was awarded “Best Album”. In 2003, the album won Coldplay “Grammy Awards” for “Best Alternative Album” and for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” for the song “In My Place”, and was voted “Best British Album” at the “BRIT Awards”. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “A Rush of Blood to the Head” at number 466 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. On July 25, 1980, “Albert / Atlantic” labels released “Back in Black”, the seventh  AC/DC studio album. It was recorded April–May 1980, at “Compass Point Studios” in Nassau, Bahamas, and was produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange. The album’s all-black cover was designed as a “sign of mourning” for band’s original singer Bon Scott, who died in 1980. “Back in Black” was huge commercial success; it has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide, becoming the the second-highest-selling album in history. “Back in Black” was certified Platinum in Argentina by “CAPIF”; 12 x Platinum in Australia by “ARIIA”; Platinum in Austria by “IFPI”; Diamond in Canada by “Music Canada”; 2 x Platinum in France by “SNEP”; 2 x Platinum in Germany by “BVMI”; Platinum in Italy by “FIMI”; 2 x Platinum in Switzerland by “IFPI”; Platinum in UK by “BPI” and 22 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”. Nino Rota

On April 10, 1979, Giovanni “Nino” Rota died aged 68. He was musician (piano), composer, conductor and academic, best known for his film scores. He has wrote more than 150 music scores and has composed music for the films of some of the world best known movie directors, among the others for Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti, Franco Zeffirelli and Francis Ford Coppola.  In 1974 he won the “Academy Award for Best Original Score” for Francis Ford Coppola movie “The Godfather Part II”. Rota is also known for his music for theatre productions by Luchino Visconti, Eduardo De Filippo and Franco Zeffirelli.
