Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man

On June 21, 1965, “Columbia” label released “Mr. Tambourine Man”, The Byrds debut album. It was recorded January 20 – April 22, 1965, at “Columbia Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Terry Melcher.  “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Mr. Tambourine Man” at number 232 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On June 20, 1975, “Reprise” label released “Tonight’s the Night”, the sixth Neil Young studio album. It was recorded March 1970, December 1972, August–September 1973, at “Studio Instrument Rentals” in Hollywood, “Fillmore East” in New York City, “Broken Arrow Ranch”, and was produced by David Briggs , Neil Young, Tim Mulligan and Elliot Mazer. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” label ranked “Tonight’s the Night” at number 331on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On June 15, 1982, “Capitol” label released “Abracadabra”, the twelfth studio album Steve Miller Band studio album. It was recorded in 1981, at “Capitol Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Steve Miller and Gary Mallaber. “Abracadabra” was certified Platinum in Canada by the “CRIA” and in the US by the “RIIA”.

On June 14, 1968, “Atco” label released “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, the second Iron Butterfly studio album. It was recorded in 1968, at “Gold Star Studios” in Hollywood, and in “Ultra Sonic Studios” in New York, and was produced by Don Casale. “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” was certified 4 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”, and was the best selling album of the year 1969.

On June 13, 1995, “Maverick Records” label released “Jagged Little Pill”, the third Alanis Morissette studio album. It was recorded 1994 – 1995, at “Westlake Recording Studios” and “Signet Sound” in Hollywood, and was produced by Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard. “Jagged Little Pill” won five “Grammy Awards” including “Album of the Year”, making Morissette the youngest artists ever to receive this award. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 327 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. At the 1997 “Juno Awards”, the album song “Ironic” won “Single of the Year” award, and Morissette won “Songwriter of the Year” and the “International Achievement” award. “Jagged Little Pig” was huge commercial success selling more than thirty million copies worldwide.

Mingus

On June 13, 1979, “Asylum” label released “Mingus”, the tenth Joni Mitchell studio album. The album was recorded in 1978 – 1979, and was finalized few months before Charles Mingus death, and was his last music project. “Mingus” was recorded at “A&M Studios” in Hollywood and “Electric Lady Studios” in New York, and was produced by Joni Mitchell. Album artwork features Joni Mitchell paintings of Mingus.

On May 21, 1971, “Tamla” label released “What’s Going On”, the eleventh Marvin Gaye studio album. It was recorded June –September 1970; March – May 1971,  at “Hitsville U.S.A.”, “Golden World”, and “United Sound Studios” in Detroit and “The Sound Factory” in Hollywood, and was produced by Marvin Gaye. “What’s Going On” was an immediate success both commercially and critically, and is regarded as one of the most important albums in the music history. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked it at number six on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 1985, readers of “NME” magazine voted “What’s Going On” the “Best Album of all Time”. “Guardian” ranked “What’s Going On at number one on its list of the “100 Best Albums Ever”.
