It was recorded March–June 1973, at “Bearsville Sound Studios” in Bearsville, New York; “Capitol Studios” in Hollywood, and was produced by Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Robbie Robertson, Richard Manuel and  Billy Mundi. The album consists entirely of cover songs.
