Radiohead: The Bends

Radiohead.bends.

On March 13, 1995, “Parlaphone” label released “The Bends”, the second Radiohead studio album. It was recorded August – November 1994, at “Abbey Road Studios”, “RAK Studios” in London and “The Manor” in Oxfordshire, and was produced by John Leckie.”The Bends” was certified 3 x Platinum in UK by “BPI” and in Canada by “Music Canada”, and Platinum in US by “RIIA”.

Soundgarden: Superunknown

Superunknown

On March 8, 1994, “A&M” label released “Superunknown”, the fourth Soundgarden album. It was recorded July – September 1993, at “Bad Animals Studio” in Seattle, and was produced by Michael Beinhorn, Chris Cornell, Kim Thayll, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron.  “Superunknown” was certified 5 x Platinum in US by the “RIAA”. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked it at number 336 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time” and at number 38 on magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Albums of the Nineties”. “Kerrang” magazine listed “Superunknown” in its list of “100 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”.

The album has been certified 7 x Platinum in US by the “RIAA”.

Dire Straits first album

On Octoebr 7, 1978, “Vertigo” label released the self titled, debut Dire Straits studio album. It was recorded February – March 1978, at the “Basing Street Studios”, London, and was produced by Muff Winwood. The album featured the hit single “Sultans of Swing”, which became the band’s trademark and helped the album to be certified 2 x Platinum in the US and UK.

Andy Warhol

On February 22, 1987, Andrew Warhola aka Andy Warhol died aged 58. He was the main figure in the art movement known as “Pop art” he explored the relation between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. He founded “Interview Magazine”  and managed and produced the “Velvet Underground”, one of the most influential bands in the history of the modern music. His studio, “The Factory”, was gathering place for distinguished intellectuals, drag queens, playwrights,Bohemian street people, Hollywood celebrities, and wealthy patrons. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became a renowned and sometimes controversial artist. The “Andy Warhol Museum” in his native city, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, holds hige collection of art and archives. It is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist.
