On August 22, 2018, Edward Calhoun Kingdied aged 68. He was musician (guitar, bass) and songwriter, member of the bands Hunger and Strawberry Alarm Clock, but was best known as the guitarist and bassist of Lynyrd Skynyrd. In 2006, as member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, King was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”.

On August 13, 2021, Nanci Caroline Griffith died aged 68. She was musician (guitar), singer and songwriter, toured and recorded with The Crickets, John Prine, Iris DeMent, Suzy Bogguss, Judy Collins, Emmylou Harris, Mary Black, John Prine, Don McLean, Jimmy Buffett, Dolores Keane, Willie Nelson, Adam Duritz, The Chieftains, John Stewart, Darius Rucker and Buddy Holly’s band. In 1994, Griffith won “Grammy Award” for “Best Contemporary Folk Album”, in 1995, she was awarded the “Kate Wolf Memorial Award” by the “World Folk Music Association”, and in 2008, the “Americana Music Association” awarded her its “Americana Trailblazer Award”. Griffith released 18th studio and 2 live albums.

He was musician (drums, percussion), recorded and performed with many artists and bands including Techno Twins, M/Robin Scott, Mother Gong, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Steve Vengeance, Two-Bit Thief, The Saints, Backbeats, Edgar Broughton Band, Martha Munizzi, Group 1 Crew, the Gun Club, Spirits Burning & Clearlight, Steve Hillage, The Glove, Jimmy Somerville, Jimmy Pursey, Isaac Hayes, Midge Ure, Iggy Pop, Hawkwind, The Last Poets, Jason Donovan, The Rock & Roll Gypsies, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield, Edwyn Collins, Glenn Matlosk, but was best known as member and drummer with The Cure.

On January 31, 2009, Walter Milton Dwayne Midkiff aka Dewey Martin died aged 68. He was musician (drums), performed and recorded with The Jive Rockets, Bernie Early & the Early Birds, Carl Perkins, The Everly Brothers, Patsy Cline, Charlie Rich,  Faron Young, Roy Orbison, Lucky Lee & The Blue Diamonds, The Sons of Adam, The Standells,  The Modern Folk Quartet and The Dillards, but was best known as member and drummer of Buffalo Springfield.

On January 23, 2016, James Stewart Bain died aged 68. He was musician (bass, guitar, keyboards), vocalist and songwriter, performed and recorded with Phil Lynott, Wild Horses, Gary Moore, Hear ‘n Aid, Ian Hunter, John Cale and Last in Line, but was best known as member and bass player of Rainbow and Dio.

On January 19, 2019, Edward McKenna died aged 68. He was musician (drums), recorded and performed with Rare Breed, Dream Police, Tear Gas, Gary Moore, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, McKenna’ Gold, Rory Gallagher, The Greg Lake Band, The Michael Schenker Group. Ian Gillan, Womack & Womack, The Party Boys, Gwyn Ashton, The Paul rose Band, The Rhumboogie Orchestra, and Band of Friends.

On October 30, 2004, Andrew Alexander “Mike” Terry died aged 68. He was songwriter, musician (baritone saxophone), producer, and musical director. He was member of the bands Popcorn and the Mohawks, Joe Hunter Band, and The Funk Brothers. From 1960 – 1967, with The Funk Brothers he performed on thousands of “Motown” recordings. Terry worked with Martha and the Vandellas, Jackie Wilson, Mary Wells, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Kim Weston, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, J. J. Barnes, Rose Batiste, The Capitols, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Robinson, Sandra Phillips, The Little Foxes, Junior Walker & the All Stars, Clarence Carter, The Dells, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Maxine Brown, The Parliaments, and Edwin Starr.

On July 16, 2020, James Oldaker died aged 68. He was a musician (drums, percussions), member of Rogues Five, Bob Seger Band, Leon Russell Band, Frehley’s Comet, and The Tractors, but was best known as the drummer for Eric Clapton. Oldaker recorded with musicians and bands such as The Bellamy Brothers, Asleep at the Wheel, Peter Frampton, The Gap Band, Marcy Levy, Stephen Stills, Leon Russell, Ace Frehley, Freddie King, and The Bee Gees. In August 2005, Oldaker released “Mad Dogs & Okies”, a collection celebrating the music and musicians of Oklahoma, with guest musicians Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, J. J. Cale, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Dunn, and Bonnie Bramlett.

On May 28, 2008, Jerald Kolbrak aka Jerry Cole died aged 68. He was guitarist, started the career in the bands The Champs (together with Glen Campbell), and Gee Cee’s. He has worked as session musician with many famous musicians and bands including The Byrds, Nancy Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Roger McGuinn, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Aretha Franklin, The Righteous Brothers, Little Richard, Dean Martin, Merle Haggard, Ray Charles, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Lou Rawls, Johnny Rivers, Gregg Allman, Lee Hazlewood, Blood Sweat & Tears, Kenny Rogers, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan and Isaac Hayes.
