On November 13, 2016, Claude Russell Bridges aka Leon Russell died aged 74. He was musician (piano, keyboards, guitar, bass, baritone horn) and songwriter, with successful solo career. His best known track “A Song for You ”,has been recorded and performed by more than 100 music acts. Russell has recorded and performed with many famous musicians including The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, John Lennon, Ringo Starr ,George Harrison, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Ike & Tina Turner, and the Rolling Stones. In 2011, Russell was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”

Lou Reed
On October 27, 2013, Lewis Allan “Lou” Reed died aged 71. He was musician (guitar), singer, and songwriter, both as guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter of the Velvet Underground, and with his solo career, he is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential artists in the history of rock music. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “The Velvet Underground & Nico”, the debut Velvet Underground album at number 13 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”; and in 2013, the same magazine included “Transformer” and “Berlin”, two Reed’s albums on the same list. In 2015, Reed was posthumously inducted in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”.
Gene Vincent
On October 12, 1971, Vincent Eugene Craddock aka Gene Vincent died aged 35. Being singer and guitarist, he was one of the rockabilly and rock and roll pioneers. His 1956 song “Be-Bop-A-Lula” (together with his band Blue Caps) is considered to be one of the first rockabilly hits. Vincent was inducted both the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” and the “Rockabilly Hall of Fame”.
Johnny Cash
On September 12, 2003, John R. “Johnny” Cash died aged 71. He was musician (guitar) singer, songwriter and actor, and author, considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. With more than 90 million albums sold, he is also one of the best-selling music artists of all time. His trademark outfit earned him the nickname “The Man in Black”. Johnny Cash was inducted in the four major music halls of fame: the “Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame” (1977); the “Country Music Hall of Fame” (1980); the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” (1992), and the “Memphis Music Hall of Fame” (2013). In 2001, he was awarded the “National Medal of Arts”.
John Entwistle
On June 27, 2002, John Alec Entwistle died aged 57. He was musician (bass), singer, songwriter, composer, movie and music producer, best known as the bass player of The Who. Nicknamed “The Ox” and “Thunderfingers, he was voted as the “Greatest Bass Guitarist of All Time” in a “Rolling Stone” magazine reader’s poll. In 1990, Entwistle was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” as a member of The Who. As leader he released seven albums:
Eagles: Same
On June 1, 1972, “Asylum” label released the self-titled, debut Eagles album. It was recorded in February 1972, at “Olympic Studios” in London, and was produced by Glyn Johns. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 368 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. The single “Take It Easy” is part of the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” of the “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll”. In March 2001, the album was certified Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

Prince
On April 21, 2016, Prince Roger Nelson died aged 57. He was singer, musician, composer, arranger, producer and actor, one of the most successful and influential artists of the modern music. He recorded thirty-nine studio albums, four live albums, eight compilation albums, seventeen video albums, thirteen extended plays and one posthumous album. Prince won seven “Grammy Awards, six “American Music Awards”, a “Golden Globe Award”, and “Academy Award” for the 1984 film “Purple Rain”. In 2004, he was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”. Magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked him at number 27 on their list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.
Led Zeppelin: Houses Of The Holy
On March 28, 1973, “Atlantic” label released “Houses of the Holy”, the fifth Led Zeppelin studio album. It was recorded December 1971 – August 1972, at “Island Studios”, “Olympic Studios” in London, “The Rolling Stones Mobile”, “Stargroves Estate” in Hampshire, and was produced by Jimmy Page. This was band’s first album composed of entirely original material. In 1999, “Houses of the Holy” was certified 11 x Platinum in US by the “RIAA”. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 148 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”. In 2007, “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” inducted “Houses of the Holy” in “The Definitive 200: Top 200 Albums of All-Time”.

It was recorded August – December 1969, at “A & R Studios” in New York, and was produced by Lewis Merenstein and Van Morrison. The album was certified 3 x Platinum in US by the “RIAA,” In 1989 “Spin” magazine ranked “Moondance” at number 21 at list of the “All-time 25 Greatest Albums”; in 1999, the album was inducted into the “Grammy Hall of Fame”; in 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Moondance” at number 65 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”; in 2006 “Time” included the album in its list of “The All-Time 100 Albums”, and in 2007, the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” named it as one of their “Definitive 200” albums, ranking it 72nd.

Maurice White
On February 4, 2016, Maurice White died aged 74. He was singer-songwriter, musician, producer, arranger and bandleader, he was the founder of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. White won seven “Grammys”, and was nominated for 21 Grammys in total. White was inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” and the “Vocal Group Hall of Fame” as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire, and was also individually inducted into the “Songwriters Hall of Fame”. White worked with number of famous artists including Denice Williams, The Emotions, Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond.
