Love Devotion Surrender

On July 20, 1973, “Columbia” label released “Love Devotion Surrender”, album by Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin. It was recorded October 1972 – March 1973, and was produced by Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin. “Love Devotion Surrender” was tribute to John Coltrane, containing two Coltrane’s compositions.

Mingus

On June 13, 1979, “Asylum” label released “Mingus”, the tenth Joni Mitchell studio album. The album was recorded in 1978 – 1979, and was finalized few months before Charles Mingus death, and was his last music project. “Mingus” was recorded at “A&M Studios” in Hollywood and “Electric Lady Studios” in New York, and was produced by Joni Mitchell. Album artwork features Joni Mitchell paintings of Mingus.

On May 12, 1971, “Columbia” label released the self-titled, debut Weather Report album. It was recorded February – March 1971, and was produced by Shoviza Productions. The album was voted “Jazz Album of the Year” in “Down Beat Readers Poll”, and it won “Swing Journal” magazine “Grand Prix Award” in the “Journal’s Readers’ and Critics” polls.

On April 4, 2000, “Sire” label released “Ecstasy”, the eighteenth Lou Reed album. It was recorded in 1999, at “Sear Sound” in NYC, and was produced by Lou Reed and Hal Willner. The cover photography is by Reed.

On March 30, 1970, “Columbia” label released “Bitches Brew”,  the 38th Miles Davis album. It was recorded August 19–21, 1969, at “30th Street Studio” in New York, and was produced by Teo Macero. In 1971, the album won “Grammy Award” for “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album”.
