It was recorded January–February 1979, at “Tuff Gong Recording Studio” in Kingston, Jamaica, and was produced by Bob Marley, Aston Barrett, Carlton Barrett, Tyrone Downie, Junior Marvin and Alex Sadkin.

On October 1, 1980, “4AD” label released “In the Flat Field” the debut Bauhaus studio album. It was recorded December 1979; June – July 1980, at “BBC Maida Vale Studios” and “Southern Studios” in London, and was produced by Petyer Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J and Kevin Haskins. “In the Flat Field” is considered one of the first gothic rock albums.

On September 25, 1979, “EMI” label released “Entertainment!” the debut Gang of Four album. It was recorded 1979 at “The Workhouse” in London, and was produced by Andy Gill, Jon King and Rob Warr. In 2012, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 483 on its list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 2005, “Q”  magazine  ranked the track “At Home He’s a Tourist” at number 52 on its list of the “100 Greatest Guitar Tracks”.
