On January 6, 1986, “Celluloid” label released “Horses & Trees”, the fourth Ginger Baker album. It was recorded September – November 1985, and was produced by Bill Laswell.

Magazine: Real Life

In June 1978, “Virgin” label released “Real Life”, the debut Magazine studio album. It was recorded March – April 1978, at “Virgin Mobile” and “Abbey Road Studios” in London, and was produced by John Leckie and Mick Glossop. The album artwork and mono print were by Linder. In 1986, “Sounds” magazine ranked “Real Life” at number 89 in its list “100 Best Albums of All Time”; in 2006, “Uncut” magazine ranked the album at number 37 on its list of the “100 Greatest Debut Albums”.

David Bowie: Black Star

On January 8, 2016, “ISO”, “RCA”, “Columbia”, and “Sony” labels released “Black Star”, the twenty-fifth and final David Bowie studio album. It was recorded in 2015, at “The Magic Shop” and “Human Worldwide Studios”, in New York City, and was produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti.  The album was voted Best album of 2016, in the annual choices by many medias including The A.V. Club, Mojo, Newsweek, Paste, Q, Rolling Stone (Readers Poll), Uncut and The Wire Magazine. “Black Star” became Bowie’s only album to top the “Billboard 200” in the United States, and it remained at the number one position in the UK charts for three weeks. The album was certified Platinum in Australia by “ARIA”; in Austria by “IFPI”; in Belgium by “BEA”; in Canada by “Music Canada”; in France by “SNEP”; in Italy by “FIMI”, and in UK by “BPI”.

On July 18, 1980, “Korova” label released “Crocodiles”, the debut Echo & the Bunnymen album. It was recorded in 1980, at “Eden Studios” in London and “Rockfield Studios” in Monmouth, Wales, and was produced by Bill Drummond, David Balfe in Ian Broudie.  In 1993, “NME” ranked “Crocodiles” at number 28 on its list of the “50 Greatest Albums of the 1980s”; in 2006, “Uncut” magazine ranked the album at number 69 on its list of the “100 Greatest Debut Albums”

John Cale: Paris 1919

John Cale Paris 1919

On March 1, 1973, “Reprise” label released “Paris 1919”, the third John Cale studio album.  It was recorded in 1972, at “Sunwest Studios” in Los Angeles, and was produced by Chris Thomas. “The Wire” magazine placed “Paris 1919” in its list of “One Hundred Records That Set the World on Fire (While No One Was Listening)”. In 2016, ”Uncut” magazine placed the album in its list of “100 Greatest Albums of All Time”.  Stephen Holden of the magazine “Rolling Stone” wrote that “Paris 1919” is “one of the most ambitious albums ever released under the name of ‘pop’.
