The Velvet Underground: The Complete Matrix Tapes

The Complete Matrix Tapes

On November 20, 2015, “Polydor” and “Universal Music Enterprises” labels released  “The Complete Matrix Tapes”, an four disc box set by Velvet Underground (The).  In November and December 1969, The Velvet Underground were playing in two San Francisco venues the “Family Dog” and the “Matrix”. During the18 night performances, most of the gigs were recorded on a four-track recorder. The recordings from those shows are used for “The Complete Matrix Tapes”, the four-disc box set containing 42 recordings, including 9 previously unreleased tracks.

On November 17, 1979, “Polydor” label released “Setting Sons”, the fourth Jam studio album.  It was recorded August – 10 October 1979, at “The Townhouse Studios” in London, and was produced by Vic Coppersmith-Heaven.

On November 1, 1972, “Polydor” released “Slayed?”, the third Slade album. It was recorded in 1972, and was produced by Chas Chandler. In 1974 “Record and Radio Mirror” poll results, “Slayed?” peaked at  number 4 on the top ten list of “Best British Albums”.

On August 18, 1978, “Polydor” label released “Who Are You”, the eight Who album.  It was recorded October 1977 – April 1978, at “Ramport Studios”, “Battersea”, ”Olympic Studios”; “RAK Studios”, St John’s Wood” and Pete Townshend’s own studio in Goring-on-Thames and was produced by Jon Astley, Glyn Johns , Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Pete Townshend and Keit Moon. This was band’s last album with Keith Moon,  he died twenty days after the release of album.
