It was recorded July 31 -August 18, 1978, at “Club Le Front”, and “Meta Tantay” in Carlin, Nevada, and was produced by Lowell George. The album cover art was by underground comics artist Gilbert Shelton.

In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked the album at number 262 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
