Dickey Betts

On April 18, 2024, Forrest Richard Betts aka Dickie Betts died aged 80. He was musician (guitar), singer and songwriter, member of the bands Dickey Betts & Great Southern, Betts, Hall, Leavell and Trucks, but was best known as founding member, guitarist and singer of The Allman Brothers Band.

Gerald Conway

On March 29, 2024, Gerald Conway died aged 76. He was musician (drums, percussion), performed and recorded with Alexis Korner, Eclection, Fotheringay, Al Stewart, Cat Stevens, Joan Armatrading, The Bunch, Moke McHear, Grimms, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Richard Thompson and Ian Matthews. Conway was best known for his work with Pentangle, Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention.

Damo Suzuki

On February 9, 2024, Kenji Suzuki aka Damo Suzuki died aged 74. He was singer, recorded and performed with Dunkelziffer, Damo Suzuki’s Network, Damo Suzuki Band, Cul De Sac, Sixtoo, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Safety Magic, Audioscope, CongeladorRadio Massacre International, Simon Torssell Lerin, Bettina Hvidevold Hystad, Øresund Space Collective, Mugstar, Jelly Planet, Echo Ensemble, Numinous Eye, Steve Eto, and Spiritczualic Enhancement Center, best known as lead singer of the band Can.

Aston “Family Man” Barrett

On February 3, 2024, Aston Francis Barrett aka Aston “Family Man” Barrett, died aged 77. He was musician (bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, percussion), song-writer, arranger and producer. Barrett was member of the bands The Hippy Boys, Lee Perry’s The Upsetters, but was best known as member and bandleader of The Wailers (Bob Marley and the Wailers).  

Wayne Kramer

On February 2, 2024, Wayne Kramer died aged 75. He was musician (guitar), singer, songwriter, producer and film and television composer. He was member of the band Gang War, but was best known as co-founder, and guitarist of MC5. Kramer recorded with various musicians and bands including Bad Religion, Marshall Crenshaw, Jill Sobule and Was (Not Was). As leader he released five studio albums.

Melanie Safka

On January 23, 2024, Melanie Anne Safka-Schekeryk aka Melanie Safka died aged 76. She was musician (guitar), singer and songwriter, one of the Woodstock Festival stars. Her best known songs are “What Have They Done to My Song Ma” and “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)”. Melanie released 28 studio and 13 live albums.
