On June 2, 1986, “EMI” label released “A Kind of Magic”, the twelfth  Queen studio album. It was recorded September 1985 – April 1986, at “Musicland Studios” in Munich, “Mountain Studios” in Montreux and “Townhouse Studios” in London, and was produced by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, Roger Taylor,  Mack and David Richards. The album is based on the soundtrack of the movie “Highlander”, directed by Russell Mulcahy. In the 1994 edition of “The Guinness All Time Top 1000 Albums” the album was ranked at number 171 in its “All-time Greatest Rock and Pop Albums”.

On June 2, 1978, “Charisma” label released the self-titled, second Peter Gabriel album. It was recorded November 1977 – February 1978, at “Relight Studios” in Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands, and was produced by Robert Fripp. The album cover was by Hipgnosis.

On June 2, 1978, “Columbia” label released “Darkness on the Edge of Town”, the fourth Bruce Springsteen studio album. It was recorded October 1977 – March 1978, at “Record Plant Studios” in New York, and was produced by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Landau, and Steven Van Zandt. In 2003, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked “Darkness on the Edge of Town” at number 151 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of all Time”. The album was certified 3 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA’.

On June 2, 1972, “Harvest” label released “Obscured by Clouds” the seventh Pink Floyd studio album. It was recorded February – April 1972, at “Strawberry Studios” in Château d’Hérouville, Hérouville, and was produced by  David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The album is based on their soundtrack for the French movie “La Vallée”, by Barbet Schroeder.

Bo Diddley

On June 2, 2008, Ellas Otha Bates aka Bo Diddley, died aged 79. He was musician (guitar), singer, songwriter and music producer, played important role in the transition from the blues to rock and roll. His original syncopated beat – three strokes /rest/ two strokes, became the core rhythm of rock ’n’ roll. His style influenced big number of music acts including The Animals, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Parliament Funkadelic, The Velvet Underground, The Who, The Yardbirds, Eric Clapton, and The Beatles.
