On February 4, 1977, “Bearsville Records” released “Ra”, the second Utopia studio album. It was recorded in 1976, at “Bearsville Sound Studio”, “Utopia Sound” and “Turtle Creek Barn” and was produced by Todd Rundgren.

Buzzcocks: Spiral Scratch

On January 29, 1977, Buzzcocks self released the debut EP “Spiral  Scratch”. It was recorded in 1976 and was produced by Martin Hannett. This was the third record ever released by British punk band and the first self-released one.

Pink Floyd: Animals

On January 21, 1977, “Harvest” label released “Animals” the tenth Pink Floyd studio album. It was recorded April – December 1976, at the “Britannia Row Studios” in London, and was produced by David Gilmour, Roger Waters,  Richard Wright and Nick Mason. The album was certified 4 x Platinum in US by “RIAA”.

On January 14, 1977, “RCA” label released “Low”, the eleventh David Bowie album, the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno termed the “Berlin Trilogy”.  It was recorded September – October 1976, at the “Château d’Hérouville” in Hérouville and “Hansa Studio by the Wall?”, West Berlin, and was produced by Tony Visconti and David Bowie.

The EP contained re-recordings of songs that featured on their previous, independent releases “Let Me Tell Ya ‘Bout Root Beer” and “Fungus Amongus”, and the previously unreleased track “Version”. The EP was produced by Jim Wirt.

Peter Goldmark

On December 7, 1977, Peter Carl Goldmark (Hungarian: Goldmark Péter Károly) died aged 71. Goldmark was German-Hungarian inventor and engineer, who, during his work in “Columbia Records” in 1945, invented the long-playing microgroove 33-1/3 rpm record, which revolutionized the way people listened to music.
