On May 8, 2023, Rita Lee Jones died aged 75. She was singer, composer and writer, regarded as the best-known Brazil rock singer. Jones was member of the bands Tutti Frutti and Os Mutantes, and known for her animal rights activism. She sold more than 50 million records worldwide, and her autobiography “Rita Lee: Uma Autobiografia”, was the best-selling non-fiction book of 2017 in Brazil.
