Glassvegas: Godspeed

Malcolm Cecil

On March 28, 2021, Malcolm Cecil died aged 84. He was musician (bass, double bass, synthesizer), in the late 1950s founded The Jazz Corners, performed and recorded with Dick Morrisey, Ronnie Scott, Tony Crombie, Gil Scott Heron, The Isley Brothers, Jim Hall, Bill Augustine, and was member of the band Blues Incorporated. With Robert Margouleff he formed the duo TONTO’s Expanding Head Band, based on combination of synthesizers, described by magazine “Rolling Stone” as revolutionary. As leader, Cecil released one album.

Xiu Xiu: Oh No

On March 26, 2021, “Polyvinyl” label released “Oh No”, the twelfth Xiu Xiu album. It was recorded 2020 – 2021, at Jamie Stewart’s home studio in Los Angeles “Nurse”, and was produced by Lawrence English, Greg Saunier and Angela Seo.

Ethel Nagy Gabriel

On March 23, 2021, Ethel Nagy Gabriel died aged 99. She was music producer and record executive, known as the first female producer in the music industry. She produced more than 2500 albums, winner of “Grammy Award” in 1982, produced six Grammy winning albums, and “15 RIAA Certified Gold Records” hits. Among the others, Gabriel worked with Henry Mancini, Elvis Presley, Al Hirt, Roger Whittaker, Neil Sedaka, Eddie Fisher, Paul Anka, Dolly Parton and Perry Como.
