On September 23, 1991, “Creation Records” label released “Screamadelica”, the third Primal Scream studio album. It was recorded 1990 – 1991, and was produced by The Orb, Hypnotone, Andrew Weatherall, Hugo Nicolson and Jimmy Miller. In 1991, “Melody Maker” and “Select” magazines named “Screamadelica” “Album of the Year”; the album won the first “Mercury Music Prize” in 1992; in 2003,  “NME” magazine placed it at no. 23 in its list of the “100 Best Albums Ever”, and in  2006, the magazine placed it at number 15 in its list of the “Greatest British Albums Ever”; in 2000, “Q” magazine placed “Screamadelica” at number 18 on its list of the “100 Greatest British Albums, and in 2001, the magazine placed it at number 81 on its list of the “Top 100 Albums of All Time”.

Sunflower

On August 31, 1970, “Reprise” label released “Sunflower”, the 16th Beach Boys (The) studio album. It was recorded June–October 1967, January 1969, July 1970, at “Sunset Sound Recorders”, “Gold Star Studios”, and Brian Wilson’s home studio in Los Angeles, and was produced by Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Al Jardine, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston.. In 1997, “Guardian” ranked “Sunflower” at number 66 on its list of the “100 Best Albums Ever”.

On July 11, 1980, “EMI” label released “Searching for the Young Soul Rebels”, the debut Dexys Midnight Runners studio album. It was recorded in 1979 – 1980, at “Chipping Norton Recording Studios” in Oxfordshire, and was produced by Pete Wingfield.  “The Guardian” ranked the album at number 93 on its list of the “100 Best Albums Ever” and “Melody Maker” ranked it at number 42 on its list of the “All Time Top 100 Albums”.

On May 21, 1971, “Tamla” label released “What’s Going On”, the eleventh Marvin Gaye studio album. It was recorded June –September 1970; March – May 1971,  at “Hitsville U.S.A.”, “Golden World”, and “United Sound Studios” in Detroit and “The Sound Factory” in Hollywood, and was produced by Marvin Gaye. “What’s Going On” was an immediate success both commercially and critically, and is regarded as one of the most important albums in the music history. “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked it at number six on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 1985, readers of “NME” magazine voted “What’s Going On” the “Best Album of all Time”. “Guardian” ranked “What’s Going On at number one on its list of the “100 Best Albums Ever”.

On March 1, 1973, “Harvest” label released “The Dark Side of the Moon”, the eighth Pink Floyd studio album. It was recorded June 1972 – January 1973, at “Abbey Road Studios” in London,  engineered by Alan Parsons and produced by David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and Roger Waters. The album topped the “Billboard  Top LPs & Tapes” chart for one week and remained in the charts for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. With an estimated of more than 50 million copies sold, it is Pink Floyd’s most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums in the history of modern music. In 2012, magazine “Rolling Stone” ranked “The Dark Side of the Moon” at number 43 on its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 2006, “NME” magazine readers ranked the album at number 8 in their “Best Album of All Time” online poll. “The Dark Side of the Moon” was rated at number 29 in “The Observer’s” 2006 list of “The 50 Albums That Changed Music” and 37th in “The Guardian’s” 1997 list of the “100 Best Albums Ever”.
