Steve Mackey

On March 2, 2023, Stephen Patrick Mackey died aged 56. He was musician (bass) and music producer, member of the band Trolley Dog Shag, but was best known as the bass guitarist of Pulp. As producer he worked with Arcade Fire, The Long Blondes, M.I.A. and Florence + the Machine.

Scott Walker

On March 25, 2019, Noel Scott Engel aka Scott Walker, died aged 76. He was singer-songwriter, composer and record producer, member of trio The Walker Brothers, best known for his distinctive baritone voice and avant-garde baroque pop music style. He released 18th solo albums. As producer he worked with number of artists including Pulp, Ute Lemper and Bat for Lashes.

Pulp: It

In April 1983, “Red Rhino” label released “It”, the debut Pulp album. It was recorded August 1982 – January 1983, at “Input Studio”; “Victoria Studios” and “Southern Studios”, and was produced by Simon Hinkler.  The album was originally released as a limited vinyl mini-LP of 2000 copies.

On April 18, 1994, “Island” released “His ‘n’ Hers” the fourth Pulp studio album. It was recorded 1992 – 1994, at “Britannia Row” in London, and was produced by Ed Buller. In 1998, “Q”  magazine  readers voted the album 70th greatest album of all time.

On March 30, 1998, “Island” label released “This Is Hardcore”,the sixth Pulp album. It was recorded in 1997, at “CTS Studios”, and “Olympic Studios” in London, and was produced by Chris Thomas.  In 2013, magazine “NME” ranked “This Is Hardcore” at number 166 in its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

On October 30, 1995, “island” label released “Different Class”, the fifth Pulp studio album. It was recorded 1994 – 1995, at the “Town House” in London, and was produced by Chris Thomas. The album was big commercial success, going four times platinum. In 2013, ”NME” magazine  ranked the “Different Class” at number 6 in its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.
