Humble Pie: Rock On

In March 1971, “A&M” label released “Rock On”, the fourth Humble Pie studio album. It was recorded in January 1971, at “Olympic Studios” in London, and was produced by Glyn Johns, Steve Marriott, Peter Frampton, Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley. “Rock On” was the last album to feature Peter Frampton as member of the band.

In February 1975, “A&M” label released “Street Rats”, the eighth Humble Pie studio album. It was recorded in 1975, at “Olympic Studios” in London and “Marriott’s Clear Sounds Studio” in Essex, and was produced by Andrew Loog Oldham and Steve Marriott.

On December 2, 2014, Robert Henry “Bobby” Keys died aged 70. Being saxophonist he has recorded and performed with many famous musicians and bands, among them: The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, George Harrison, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood, B.B. King, Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon, Chuck Berry, Delaney, Bonnie, Donovan, Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Faces, Harry Nilsson, Warren Zevon, Humble Pie, Joe Ely, John Hiatt, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Keith Moon, Leo Sayer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul McCartney, Marvin Gaye, Sheryl Crow, Yoko Ono, Jim Carroll and Graham Nash.

Filmore East

On June 27, 1971, rock venue “Fillmore East” was closed. Rock promoter Bill Graham opened “Fillmore East” on Second Avenue near East 6th Street in the East Village, in New York City, on March 8, 1968. In its three years of existence, some of the biggest acts in rock music performed in this venue. The “Fillmore East” was a companion to Graham’s “Fillmore Auditorium”, and its successor, the “Fillmore West”, in San Francisco.

Big number of live albums by famous artists was recorded in “Fillmore East”, including:

On April 7, 2013, Jeremy Andrew “Andy” Johns died aged 61. He was producer and engineer, worked with many musicians and bands, including: Blodwyn Pig, Humble Pie, Gary Wright, Free, Bobby Whitlock- Bobby Whitlock, West, Bruce and Laing, Jack Bruce, String Driven Thing, Television,  Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Cinderella, McAuley Schenker Group, Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Miller Band, Jethro Tull, The Deviants, Spooky Tooth, Ten Years After, Clouds, Blind Faith, Led Zeppelin,  Rolling Stones, Mott the Hoople, Sailor’s Delight- Sky, Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Joni Mitchell and Eric Clapton.
