Steeleye Span: Dodgy Bastards

On November 25, 2016, “Park” label released “Dodgy Bastards”, the twenty-third Steeleye Span album. The album draws on the work of 19th century American scholar Francis James Child’s and his collection of English and Scottish Ballads.

Jacques Brel

On October 9, 1978, Jacques Romain Georges Brel died aged 49. He was a Belgian singer, songwriter and actor, widely considered a master of the modern chanson. He recorded most of his songs in French and in Dutch, but he became a major influence on English speaking songwriters and performers such as David Bowie, Alex Harvey, Leonard Cohen, Marc Almond and Rod McKuen. The English translations of his songs were recorded by many famous performers including Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Judy Collins, John Denver, the Kingston Trio,  Scott Walker and Andy Williams. Having sold over 25 million records worldwide, Brel is the fourth best-selling Belgian recording artist of all time.

On October 8, 1982, “Stiff” label released “The Rise & Fall” the fourth Madness studio album. It was recorded in 1982, at “Air Studios” in London, and was produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley.

Oxygene

On December 5, 1976, “Disques Dreyfus” label released (in France) “Oxygène” (Oxygen in English), Jean Michel Jarre studio album.  It was recorded August – November 1976, at Jarre home studio in Paris, and was produced by Jarre.  “Oxygen” was a big commercial success and was very important step in the development of electronic music.
