Jethro Tull: A

On August 29, 1980, “Chrysalis” label released “A”, the thirteen Jethro Tull studio album . It was recorded in 1980 at the “Maison Rouge Mobile” and “Maison Rouge Studios” in London,  and was produced by Ian Anderson and Robin Black.

Led Zeppelin: In Through The Out Door

On August 15, 1979, label “Swan Song” released “In Through the Out Door”, the eighth Led Zeppelin studio album .  It was recorded November – December 1978 at ABBA’s “Polar Studios” in Stockholm, and was produced by Jimmy Page.This was band’s final album with completely new material and the last one released before the death of the drummer John Bonham in 1980.  “In Through the Out Door” was certified 2 x Platinum in Australia by the “ARIA”; Platinum in UK by the “BPI” and 6 x Platinum in the US by the “RIIA”.

The Blues Brothers

Blues Bros

On June 16, 1980, “Universal Pictures” released the movie “The Blues Brothers”. Movie script was written by Dan Aykroyd and John Landis, produced by Robert K. Weiss and directed John Landis. Main roles were played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, and Carrie Fisher, Kathleen Freeman, Henry Gibson and John Candy were part of the cast. Big number of music artists took part in the movie including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Big Walter Horton, Pinetop Perkins, John Lee Hooker, Steve Cropper, Donald Dunn, Lou Marini, Tom Malone, Alan Rubin,  Willie Hall, Matt Murphy and Murphy Dunne.

John Belushi

On March 5, 1982, comedian and singer John Belushi died aged 33. Belushi was one of the original cast members of “NBC” comedy show “Saturday night live”, he appeared in the movies “National Lampoon’s animal house”  and in “Neighbors” but his most memorable role was  “Joliet ‘Jake’ Blues” in the 1980 movie “The Blues brothers”. His tombstone epitaph says “I may be gone, but rock n roll lives on”.

Bon Scott

On February 19, 1980, Ronald Belford “Bon” Scott died aged 34. He was musician (drums), singer and songwriter, gained greatest success as the lead singer and lyricist of AC/DC. In 1964 Scott formed his first band, The Spektors, in 1964 and became the band’s drummer and singer, he performed in few other bands including The Valentines and Fraternity, before replacing Dave Evans as the lead singer of AC/DC in 1974.
